Applying for a school place

Children born between 1st September 2021 and 31st August 2022 should start school in Reception in September 2026

How to apply for a Reception place in September:

  • Contact your local schools to arrange a visit.  You are able to book tickets for Knollmead open mornings here
  • Complete your application online via the eAdmissions portal
  • Choose up to 6 schools, listed in order of preference

The closing date for applications for a September start in Reception is 15th January 2026

How to apply for a school place during the year:

  • Complete the Kingston upon Thames online in-year application form
  • Processing of applications typically takes 10-20 schoold days
  • You will be contacted and offered a place or a position on the school's waiting list 
  • You must accept the place within 5 days of the offer 

You have a legal right to appeal against a decision not to offer your child a place in the preferred school.

Applying for our Nursery

At Knollmead Primary School, we have 26 places in our Nursery for children aged 3-4 years old.

How to apply for a Nursery place 

  • Download the application form here
  • Complete and return the application form to our Admissions Officer at Knollmead - you will need to include proof of your address and your child's birth certificate - by 6th March 2026 
  • Knollmead will allocate places according to our admissions criteria and places will be offered by May 2026 for a September 2026 start
  • Contact the school office to arrange a tour [email protected]

At Knollmead we currently offer fully funded 15 hours of learning and care during morning sessions from 8:45am-11:45am.

We also offer additional (government or self-funded) afternoon sessions; these sessions take place in our Reception class.

The hours of these additional sessions are:

Lunch club 11:45am-1pm

Afternoon session 12:15pm-3:15pm

You may be eligible for an additional 15 hours government funded childcare. To check if you are eligible please follow the link below to the Best Start in Life parent hub (formerly known as Childcare Choices).

The cost of these sessions as self-funded are:

Lunch Club £10

Afternoon session £24

If your child stays for lunch they can bring a packed lunch or you can purchase a school dinner at a cost of £2.80.

This consultation ensures that our policy remains transparent, fair, and legally compliant.

  • This consultation is for the admissions cycle beginning in September 27/28

How to Share Your Views

We invite parents, prospective parents, other schools, local residents, and all other interested parties to review the proposed arrangements and submit any comments or feedback.

The consultation period runs for a minimum of six weeks, from 5th December 2025 to 16th January 2025 at 5:00pm.
